Historic

The history of the Gustavo Silvestre Creation Centre begins before its formation. Its roots lie in the trajectory of its artistic director and in more than two decades of experiences spanning dance, theatre and audiovisual arts, which gradually gave rise to its own research and language.

Gustavo Silvestre began his studies in performing arts in 2002, through independent theatre courses held at the Martim Cererê Cultural Centre in Goiânia. In 2004, he also branched into dance, training in ballet and contemporary dance at the Centro Livre de Artes and Basileu França. Since then, theatre and dance have coexisted in his career.

In 2006, he enrolled in the Bachelor's and Teaching degree courses in Performing Arts at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). Alongside his academic training, he was a member of various groups and companies, including Nômades Grupo de Dança, Quasar Jovem, Cia DasLos, Cia Teatral Oops!.. and LabTIME – Laboratory for Information Technology and Educational Media.

Professional experience expanded from 2008, when they joined the Contágius Dance Company in Palmas (Tocantins), remaining with the group until 2012. In 2013, after completing their undergraduate degree, they moved to Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) and joined the Mário Nascimento Company. The following year, they were selected for the Palácio das Artes Dance Company, where they worked as a performer until 2018. Returning to Goiânia, they joined Quasar Dance Company, remaining in its cast until 2023.

After many years dedicated primarily to his work as an interpreter, a new field is beginning to transform his research. In 2019, Gustavo returns to university to study Film and Audiovisual Arts at the State University of Goiás (UEG). This encounter with cinema makes possible new ways of articulating experiences accumulated in theatre and dance, and proves decisive for the development of an authorial language bridging body, stage and image.

From this intersection emerge, starting in 2021, their first original works for the audiovisual medium and, subsequently, for the stage. In 2022, with the premiere of “Metamorphosis”, they begin a new phase of their journey, now not only as a performer, but also leading their own creative processes.

The works grow, start to circulate in Brazil and abroad, and begin to bring together different artists and professionals in their processes. What was initially organised around the production of Gustavo's work then begins to acquire continuity: a team is formed, the repertoire is expanded, new research is structured and, in 2025, Estúdio Silvestre is opened, creating a headquarters for the development of these activities.

It is from this journey that the Gustavo Silvestre Creation Centre is consolidated.

An artistic project built from more than two decades of experiences, but which ceases to be limited to its director's individual trajectory to establish itself as a space for ongoing creation, encounters between artists and the development of research in dance, theatre and audiovisual work.
